little pharmer and the DITCH PRESCRIPTION
"Sonic diversity at it's most unbridled." - Dave-O-Rama, BC Musician
The Ditch Prescription takes little pharmer's quirky brilliance to the highest level, expanding this notoriously broad musical spectrum even wider (and weirder). Shifting from face melting doom-slop to rickety blues-punk with ease, the band is a rock n roll beast, dolling out little pharmer's classics with extra sauce, and delivering unforgettable new tunes with swagger and grace.
Little pharmer began in 2010, when Cam Twyford met bassist Tom Dowding in Powell River, BC. The pair began collaborating on originals Cam had written on an old beach guitar, covering everything from industrial agriculture to pickle additives to herbal medicine. Twyford's unconventional approach brought light-heartedness to uncomfortable places as the pair explored diverse sonic territory. Favouring high-energy self-expression over any specific genre, they recorded 3 albums between 2012 and 2016, and performed and toured with punk bands, metal bands, and folk musicians. Little pharmer was an adaptable , but uncompromising force.
In 2017, little pharmer scaled down as Dowding and Twyford both focused on fatherhood. Infrequent but legendary solo performances by Twyford kept the fire lit, and wove little pharmer deep into the cultural fabric of British Columbia's west coast.
in 2025, Twyford called Dowding with news that he'd "grown" them a new drummer, Cam's 16 year old son, Olo, raised on little pharmer anthems, took up the throne like a boss and the trio haven't looked back. They plan to record a new album and tour BC in 2026.
